On September 24 and 25, CSCLF Kawai Music Welfare Fund held a lecture titled “Importance of Music Education for Children’s Growth” at China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center for Young People.
In order to support music education for children and youth in China, CSCLF invited a famous Japanese music education expert, Prof. Sasai Konihiko at Tokyo Kasei University, to give the lecture in Beijing. Over 200 teachers from primary and middle schools in 16 districts and counties of Beijing, extracurricular educational institutions and science and culture centers attended the lecture.
At the lecture
Prof. Sasai made an introduction to music education for children and youth in Japan. He demonstrated the role of language, rhythm and gesture in music education for children in a vivid manner. Attendees said they will learn more about the advanced ideas and experience of Japan’s music education and apply better-designed and more intriguing methods to arouse students’ interest in music.

During his stay in Beijing, Prof. Sasai visited China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center for Young People and observed courses at the center. He also had talks with teachers at the art center and the center for children education. They discussed issues like differences between China and Japan’s music education and model innovation. The teachers said they have benefited much.
